Video Review
The scary thing about releasing an amazing trailer is that everyone's expectations are so incredibly high for the finished product. It's easy to put immense effort into a 1 minute hype video, only to end up compromising the quality of your work on the full length video. The trailer for Dutchy Montage 2 came out over a year ago, so naturally the common question was:
"Will this be one of the few videos to actually live up to the quality of its trailer?'
Yes, yes it did.
Dutchy showed the world he is the king of social gameplay, putting on a show for the world that is only comparable to Kampy's Apex. The best clips are the ones that you think are over, only to find that the player is only getting his multi-kill started. This video was full of moments like that. Just when you thought a clip was going to end, Dutchy turns around and gets another head shot, and another, and another...
Chills went up my spine when the title "DUTCHY", flickering in the beautifully rendered fire, appeared on the screen. What a moment, it's stuff like that which makes videos remembered. That was one of the most beautifully rendered title sequences I have ever seen in a Halo video.
The editing wasn't the most original, but it was one of the few fast paced approaches that didn't take away from the gameplay. So many cuts, so much timewarping, but never did the footage appear confusing. Hats off to Exus for accomplishing this feat, there was never a dull moment in this video.
The music was a tad mainstream for my tastes, but the integration of commentary was a wonderful addition to build up the video in certain areas. And despite being on the generic side, it complimented Exus' editing style very well.
Unified all together, all I can say is that it is a very fun video to watch. Congratulations on the video, it's one for the ages.
